Just look at what Amy Cherry does to old books!
Book Reviews, 123 S. Main St., now through the end of July offers an exhibit of the creativity of Cherry, a 2006 Bluffton High School graduate.
“I began creating art with used books about three years ago,” she said. “I was fascinated by all that I could create with a book.”
“Every wall, nook, corner, shelf and cranny was filled with my creations. At the time was I was resident assistant in college and had many girls hanging out in my room.
“They loved all the book creations and how relaxed and homey it made by room. I began to give my creations away and grow a desire to continue creating.”
What can you do with an old book?
Cherry creates and offers for sale such artistic book objects as a bookshelf, book “burst,” book mobile, book photo frame, coaster, decorative book burst magnet, flower canvas and folded diamond book.
There's more. She creates garland “big” book bursts, owl/tree canvas, paper heart garlands, photo display Rolodex, tile magnets and trivets.
Paula Unrau of Book Reviews said she was happy to provide Cherry with the space in the Main Street shop to exhibit her work. The pieces are for sale.
Cherry opened RootToVine on Etsy.com, which offers additional works for sale.
“I can do custom orders and specialize in wedding and shower décor,” said Cherry.
