Art thrives this school year at BHS - many students win awards

For the school year 2013-2014, several of Bluffton High School’s art students received honors for their artwork.
Katie Scott had her artwork accepted in the Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition. The exhibition started on Sunday, April 13, and will be on display until May 15 at the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus. A total of 12,000 art entries were submitted and only 300 entries were accepted, one of which was Scott’s artwork.
The Hog Creek awards went to Samantha Rhonemus, Joseph Schumacher and Abby Tuttle. All three students received various awards. The Hog Creek Review is associated with the The Ohio State University-Lima and sponsored by the Lima Breakfast Optimistists and the Lima Noon Optimists.
Lastly, several Bluffton’s art students had their artwork accepted into the ArtSpace/Lima High School Invitational, sponsored by Kewpee. The students who had their artwork accepted are Anna Sneary, Celeste Stauber, Samantha Rhonemus, Maddie Essinger, Nicole Edelbrock, Lily Schumacher, Sara Chappell-Dick and Jacob Bishop.
Also Nicole Edelbrock won first place in the printmaking awards.Their artwork was on display from the end of March and lasted until April 11.
