Wayne Shafer, Harold Agner participate in Honor Flight to D.C.
In early June Hilty Home residents Wayne Shafer and Harold Agner were able to take part in an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C., to tour the World War II Memorial, Korean War Memorial and other memorials.
Don Burris, Director of Environmental Services at Hilty Home, served as a Guardian on the trip.
Lunch was served across the street from the World War II Memorial. After the tour ended, the group was welcomed at the Toledo Airport by family and friends and received letters of appreciation.
The tour was coordinated by the Flag City Honor Flight. This is a hub of the National Honor Flight Network, serving Veterans of Findlay, Hancock County and surrounding areas.
Each hub independently plans, raises funds and transports American veterans to Washington, D.C., to visit their war memorials.
