Busy Bluffton weekend
Bluffton has a business weekend planned with several events on Friday and Saturday. Here’s the update:
FRIDAY
St. John’s UCC beef and noodle dinner
St. John's United Church of Christ, 223 W. College Ave., will hold a beef and noodle dinner from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., at the church. Persons may dine in or take out. The menu includes homemade noodles, beef, mashed potatoes, green beans, apple sauce, roll, assorted pies, beverage. Cost is: adults: $8; 6th grade-college: $5; elementary: $4; Pre-K: free.
Columbus Grove vs. BHS football
The final game of the 2018 high school football season is tonight at Harmon Field. One of the oldest rivalries in northwestern Ohio continues between the neighboring schools. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
SATURDAY
Cars and coffee
The final cars and coffee meet of the year is Saturday at Masterpeiece Signs, 902 N. Main St. The event is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
Farmer market
It began the first Saturday in May and it ends on the final Saturday of October. Bluffton’s farmers’ market’s final day of the season takes place from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Citizens National Bank parking lot.
Transition Bluffton
Transition Bluffton and the Bluffton University Sustainability Club invite Icon viewers to join in a nationwide event, “Unleashing the Collective Genius: Celebrating 10 years of Transition in the US.”
It takes in the Kreider Room of Marbeck Center, Bluffton University.
The group will celebrate with each other here in northwest Ohio and joining those from around the country in several recorded and live events. Participants should feel free to join any or all of the festivities:
• 12:30 to 1 p.m. - Arrival and welcome with Suter’s apple cider and donuts
• 1 to 1:45 p.m. - Keynote with Rob Hopkins, co-founder of the Transition Network
• 1:45 to 2:30 p.m. - Panel of people from Transition towns around the country sharing success stories
• 2:30 to 3:1 p.m. - Keynote with Margaret Wheatley, world-renowned author, educator, and activist
• 3:15 to 4 p.m. - Panel on deepening connections with the wider movement for community resilience
• 4 to 5:15 p.m. - Live session with Transition US staff
• 5:15 to 6 p.m. - Visioning the next 10 years and closing
The afternoon will include time for informal conversation. Participants are invited to bring refreshments they would like to share with the group.
