All-conference honors for two university women
Two women from Bluffton University earned All-Heartland Conference honors when the hardware was delivered following the 2018-19 season. Junior Tj Mills(Dayton/Chaminade-Julienne) and Brianna Gillig (New Riegel) were both recognized by the HCAC coaches for their work on the hardcourt.
Tj Mills
Mills led the Beavers with 14.8 PPG, 95 assists and 50 steals. She collected Second Team All-HCAC recognition after earning honorable mention last season and HCAC Freshman of the Year honors following the 2016-17 campaign.
Her 14.8 PPG were 4th in the conference, while her 3.8 assists per game were tied for second in the HCAC. Mills' 369 points are 11th all-time for a single season and her 100 makes at the free throw line are 9th all-time.
Despite being a pass first floor general, Mills has moved up to 18th on the career scoring list with 854 points during her first three years as a Beaver. She is 7th all-time with 270 career assists and her 151 steals (10th all-time) have Mills on pace to move to the top of the charts next year with Lisa Wieging's 196 dimes on the summit.
Brianna Gillig
Gillig was named to the All-Freshman Team after leading the Beavers with 7.1 rebounds per game. She checked in at number two for Bluffton, behind Mills, with 10.5 points per game. Gillig was 6th in the HCAC with her 7.1 RPG and she is 10th all-time at Bluffton with an 82.7 free throw percentage (62-of-75) for a single season. The talented forward hit 103-of-240 from the field for 42.9 shooting on the season.
Dj Keesey
Bluffton junior Dj Keesey (Cadiz/Harrison Central) was recognized by the HCAC as a member of the All-Conference Sportsmanship team for the 2018-19 season. The award has been developed as part of a conference-wide sportsmanship initiative.
Members of the All-HCAC Sportsmanship team are selected by the coaches and their teammates as individuals who demonstrate the ideals of positive sportsmanship both on and off the court.
