UPDATED Pirate bowlers beat North Baltimore

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton High School varsity bowling team defeated visiting North Baltimore in a dual match at Southgate Lanes on Friday, January 24.
The Pirates prevailed by a score of 2,492 pins to 2,295. The win upped their season record to 6-2.
“It was a good night for our varsity team,” said Pirate coach Ben Nye. “The five starters average 900 as a team, so it was a good group effort across the two standard games of bowling.”
In game one, Bluffton won 939-779. The Pirates took game two 845-808 to win round one, 1,784-1,587.
Joziah Salazar bowled the Bluffton high game with a score of 228. Pirate Coby Dailey rolled a 212 to support him.
Trace Trumbull led NB with a high game of 189. Elijah Smith added a 176 contest.
In the Baker Series, the teams tied. The Pirates rolled 175-180-154-199 compared to a 150-158-232-168 Series by NB.
“With the lead we had, we were able to really mix up the line-up in the Baker Series with all eight bowlers,” said Nye.
The Tigers won the junior varsity match, 1,508-1,235.
Blaize Schwartz led the Pirate reserves with games of 187 and 159.
“The highlight for Bluffton was over on the JV pair,” said Nye. “Trevor Smith with his two-game series of 285 was his season best, and Blaize Schwartz had back-to-back personal-best games. Both are first-year bowlers.”
Noah Laureano topped the Tiger JV with a 216.
Bluffton bowls at Miller City Thursday, January 30.
