Here are 2017 Allen County Junior Fair results from members of the Beaverdam Bunch 4-H Club:

Mercy Health

The question on most Bluffton residents’ minds this summer is: “What’s going into the Groves’ Bear building and when will it open?”

The answer is: Mercy Health – Bluffton Family Medicine. It will open at 204 N. Main St., on Monday, Sept. 11 and a tentative grand opening is set for Friday, Oct. 6, according to Tara Miller, director of practice management at the Bluffton office.

Once open, the office will provide primary care medicine and walk-in medical care. New patients are being accepted now and appointment schedules are being taken.

Kate Bauer, Addie Kiene and Megan Quinton

Three new teachers join the Bluffton school professional staff in 2017-18. Teacherrs are Kate Bauer, high school English, Addie Kiene, high school intervention specialist and Megan Quinton, first grade.

The Fifth Annual Regional Auto Growth Summit will be held Friday, Sept. 8, in the Keese Hall Multipurpose Center at Rhodes State College, 4240 College Drive, Lima. This year’s theme is:  Transportation:  Driving Employment.

 

The event begins at 9 a.m. with registration and networking. The program will start at 9:30 a.m. and include these featured speakers:

·         Kim Braun, CEO of Braun Industries, Van Wert

·         Bernard Swiecki and Kristin Dziczek of the Center for Automotive Research (CAR), Ann Arbor, Michigan

Basil and Rosemary and family watched from Abbey of Gesthsemani, Kentucky

While most Bluffton solar eclipse watchers witnessed an 85 percent eclipse on Aug. 21 the Basil and Rosemary Meyer family experienced the “real thing.”

According to Tonya Meyer, seven of the nine adult Meyer children plus all 12 Meyer grandchildren experienced the eclipse while staying at the Abbey of Gesthsemani in Kentucky.

The Meyer’s son, Matt, (Brother Matthias) is at the abbey.

5 Myles High, a Bluffton-based jazz combo featuring a trumpet, bass, vocals, piano and drums, performed during this year’s Mennonite Memorial Home concert on the lawn ice cream social.

The social was Sunday, Aug. 20, on the back lawn of the Mennonite Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

Members of the group are Myles Bowers, trumpet, Sean McNeal, percussion, Krysti Schhey, piano and vocals, and Philip Schey, bass and vocals.
