Bluffton High School is among schools nominated for the Fans of the week, on WOSN TV. If Bluffton receives the most votes, the school receives a gold megaphone.

Bluffton's Relay for Life will hold the first meeting for the 2013 season. The meeting combines committee and teams and takes place from 6 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4, in the third floor of the town hall, according to Adam Blevins.

He said, "We have some exciting things to begin talking about and hope to see you there.  We'll also introduce you to Jesse Purcell who will be your new staff partner for the 2013 Relay For Life. Snacks will be provided."

The Smart Heart and Easy Breathers support groups have now combined to form the new Blanchard Valley Hospital Beating and Breathing as One support group. Beating and Breathing as One (B&B) will provide education and support regarding cardiac and pulmonary topics.

All meetings of the B&B support group will be held in the Marathon Auditorium at Blanchard Valley Hospital and are open to the public. Upcoming events include:

Presented by John Malacos, Ph.D., clinical psychologist

There was magic in the house recently at Hilty Memorial Home, Pandora. A magician entertained residents and youth at the child care. Here are some views of the afternoon.

Jeff and Sandra Schroll, of Bluffton, announce the engagement of their daughter Kaitlin, to Bradley Barrett, the son of Larry and Sheila Barrett, of Columbus Grove.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Bluffton High School and the University of Northwestern Ohio. She is employed by Citizens National Bank in Bluffton. Her fiance is also a graduate of Bluffton High School. He is employed by Grob Systems in Bluffton.

The couple will exchange vows Oct. 6, 2012, at 3:30 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, in Bluffton.

Bluffton's next American Red Cross blood drive is from noon to 6 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 11, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 160 N. Spring St.
