Bluffton High School’s baseball team defeated Upper Scioto Valley 15-3 in Bluffton earlier this week.

Brice Rayle was the winning pitcher. Braden Edwards collected a single and 2 RBIs, Colin Phillips hit 1 single and 1 home run, Matt Bowden had 2 singles and Dakota Bricker 1 double.

Bluffton is 1-1 overall.

Bluffton High School's boys tennis team launched its 2017 season with a 5-0 win against Bath on March 27.

BHS winners follow:

1 singles - Justin Haggard 6-1, 6-0
2 singles - Ryan Sprague, 6-0, 6-0
3 singles - Trevor Bunch, 6-0, 6-0
1 doubles - Levi Mikesell/Jaret Geiser, 6-2, 6-3
2 doubles - Tad Steiner/Jake Staley, 6-1, 6-0

While McComb stops Pirates in baseball action

Bluffton softball and baseball teams launched their 2017 seasons verse McComb on March 27.

The BHS softball team, playing at home, won its contest 6-2. Libby Schaadt was the winning pitcher.

Also playing at home, Bluffton's baseball team lost to McComb 5-2.

Several Bluffton High School winter athletes are Northwest Conference Scholar Athletes for 2016-17.

• Gold level - Letter winner in the sport and GPA of 3.5 or above during the season
• Silver level - Letter winner in the sport and GPA of 3.00 - 3.49 during the season
