All Bluffton Icon News

In the days of film, The Icon would have run on empty around 3:30 p.m. on Friday.  There are always tons of photos to take when school is out for the summer. And, we don't even scratch the surface in posting the entire scene. So, here's nine final shots that represent the story taken between 3 and 3:30 p.m. on May 31 at the corner of Jackson and Church.

But the low temperatures were a figment of your imagination

Here’s a surprise.

The average temperature during May 2019 was 61.5 degrees. While most residents thought it was a rather cold and dreary month, that temperature was 1 degree above the normal average, which is 60.5 degrees for May.

However, to appreciate these stats, the maximum average temperature for May reached only 71.1 degrees, and – here you go – the average minimum temperature for the month was 51.8 degrees.

Theses weather stats are from Guy Verhoff, Pandora weather observer.

Someone you know is on this list

School's out and the final grade cards went home on Friday. Here's the Bluffton fourth and fifth grade honor roll students. The list is in the attachment below.

Spring flooding moved the event to this week

It's trout derby week in Bluffton.

The 75th annual Bluffton Sportsmen's Club trout derby, originally set for May 5, was moved on Sunday, June 9, due to the spring flooding in Bluffton. The derby takes place in the Buckeye.

The number one trout for this year's Trout Derby is named "Big 75" - not in reference to the nearby Interstate, but in honor of the 75th year of the Bluffton Sportmen Club's trout derby.

The West Elm Street project is 95 percent completed, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator. There are 30 trucks of top soil coming, plus signage. The project should be completed by the middle of the month.
