Senior Alivia Koenig torched the Bluffton Golf Course on her way to an ultra low score of 35 Monday evening. Koenig picked up birdies on holes 2,3 & 7. As a squad, the Pirates easily defeated Otsego by a 186-220 count.
Dr. Jonathan Andreas, professor of economics, and Dr. Perry Bush, professor of history, will debate for and against the repeal of the 14th amendment during Bluffton University’s annual Constitution Day Forum. The event will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 18 in Yoder Recital Hall. Forum is free and open to the public.
Eastern Mennonite University junior cross country runner and Bluffton HS grad, Elizabeth Nisly, won her first collegiate race earlier this month, beating 70 other runners, including the runner-up by 15 seconds.
She ran in a pack with two teammates for the first half of the race, before turning on the afterburners over the final 1200m. Her 16:43 was well ahead of Bridgewater's English Jackson, who was second in 16:58.
Coming into the preseason, Elizabeth entered her third cross country season with her third coaching staff.
Bluffton University will celebrate Homecoming Weekend Oct. 13 and 14.
A full slate of activities are planned on campus surrounding the big game against Manchester University. The Beavers take the field at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Salzman Stadium. Game tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for youth at the gate. Admission is free for children ages 4 and under.

The Service Group of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) is seeking donations of items, services or “experiences,” for its Silent Auction during Fall Fest, Saturday, Sept. 22.
Funds raised through the auction support activities and improvement projects, benefitting more than 350 MHCO elders. All donations are tax deductible.
