During Feb. 13 Senior Citizen dinner meeting

Bluffton Senior Citizens will holds its February dinner meeting at noon, Monday, Feb. 13, at the Center, 132 N. Main St.

Basil Meyer is the MC and those attending will play “Who Done It.” The game is the center’s version of “To Tell the Truth.”

Ron Zimmerly will receive his life membership at the meeting as he celebrates his 90th birthday in February.

Will attend Feb. 5 service at St. John’s UCC

To commemorate the sacrifice of four armed services chaplains during World War II, Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will observe Religious Emphasis Week Feb. 5-11, and Four Chaplains Sunday, Feb. 5, Chaplain Donald Rock of the post announced.

Legion members will attend the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service on Feb. 5, at St. John’s United Church of Christ.

This marks the 74th anniversary of the sinking of the SS Dorchester and the heroism demonstrated by four chaplains.

FINDLAY, Ohio - The Bluffton track and field squad made its annual pilgrimage northward on I-75 to the University of Findlay Classic. It was two days of quality performances in a predominately Division 2 field where the Beavers acquitted themselves quite well.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University woman’s basketball team took on Rose-Hulman in a crucial battle for the top spot in the HCAC. It was four quarters of hard fought basketball by both teams but the visiting Engineers would come out with the 49-47 victory. The loss dropped the Beavers to 15-4 on the season and 9-3 in the Heartland Conference. Rose-Hulman improved to 16-3 overall and 11-1 in conference play.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men hosted Rose-Hulman on Saturday, Jan. 28, and fell by a score of 78-62. Rose-Hulman took the lead for good late in the opening stanza and never looked back as they rolled to a 78-62 victory. The victorious Engineers improved to 7-5 in the HCAC (9-10 overall), while Bluffton fell to 3-8 in the HCAC (10-8 overall).

Lawrence Matthews told the Bluffton Lions Club about his work with Mennonite Disaster Service in Detroit, during the club’s Jan. 17 meeting.
