Village snow ordinance now in effect
In anticipation of another potentially significant snow event early this week, the Village of Bluffton is informing the public that its snow ordinance is now in effect (as of Sunday, Feb. 7), according to Rick Skilliter, police chief.
All vehicles parked on the public roadways must be parked on the side of the street that corresponds with the calendar day of the week (i.e. parked on the odd side of the street on odd calendar days and even side of the street on even calendar days).
Police officers are assisting road crews with notification to remove illegally parked cars, however some vehicles may be towed at the owner's expense even if the owner cannot be contacted.
Snow plows will be pushing snow as far off the driving lane as possible, which will be as close to the curb as they can get. Recognizing that some sidewalks are immediately adjacent to the curb, the sidewalk clearing ordinance will be temporarily suspended on those streets only.
The snow ordinance will remain in effect until further notice, according to Skilliter.
