Roger Basinger 1933 -2010
Roger L. Basinger, 77, of Pandora, Ohio, died at 5:45 a.m., April 27, 2010, at St. Rita~Ac^a'not^a"cs Medical Center Lima.
He was born March 2, 1933, in Pandora to Alvan and Mary Lora Basinger, On Dec. 18, 1960, he married Jan Herr and she survives.
Mr. Basinger retired from CSX Railroad after 43 years. He was a member of the Rufus Putnam Masonic Lodge 364, Columbus Grove, Moose Lodge 199, Lima, and Elks Lodge 75, Findlay. He was a 1951 graduate of Pandora High School.
In addition to his wife, survivors are a daughter, Stacy (Bill Hawk) Shafer, Lima; a son, Scott (Michelle) Basinger, Pataskala, Ohio; grandson Adam Hofacker, Ft. Wayne, Ind., and granddaughters, Abigail and Emily Basinger, Pataskala; four sisters, Myra West, Ventura, Calif., Caris Veazey, Santa Barbara, Calif., Donna Kacerek, Ventura, Calif., and Marjorie Geiger, Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Naden Basinger and a sister, Bette Barre.
A funeral service is planned at 11 a.m., May 1, at Chiles Laman Funeral Home, Bluffton. Rev. Judy Huber will officiate. Visitation is from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. A Masonic service is at 8 p.m.
Burial is in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, Pandora. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may go to the Pandora-Gilboa Athletic Boosters, or Gerad Cancer Center, Lima.
