Bluffton University’s mathematics department will host its annual math competition for high school students on Saturday, Nov. 4, in Stutzman Lecture Hall in Centennial Hall. All of the day’s activities are free.

Registration begins at 9 a.m. with the test beginning at 10 a.m. The test consists of short-answer questions covering high school math topics through precalculus. Cash prizes will be awarded, and test scores of seniors considering attending Bluffton may be used to award renewable scholarships of up to $1,000 per year. Scholarship awards will be offered by January 2018.

Teachers need not accompany students, but activities will be available for teachers, as well as parents, during the test. Afterward, visitors may attend admissions and math presentations, followed by a free lunch at noon and a campus tour after lunch and free admission into Bluffton’s home football game against Earlham.

Each high school may register up to 15 students, but registration will be limited to the first 100 students. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Oct. 31. Students may register online, and find previous contests, answers and solutions, by visiting http://www.bluffton.edu/math/contest/
