MEDIA RELEASE__Fourth-grade students at Bluffton Elementary School took part in a hands-on lesson in patriotism this week as members of American Legion Post 382 presented the annual Flag Education Program, a long-standing initiative designed to teach young students the history, symbolism, and proper respect for the United States Flag.

The program, led by Post 382 volunteers, introduced students to the origins of the American flag, the meaning behind its colors and design, and the etiquette expected when displaying or handling the flag. Legion members also demonstrated the correct method for folding the flag and explained the significance of each step.

Following the presentation, students completed a written test covering the material. The top-scoring students were named the Post 382 4th Grade Flag Education Program Winners, earning a certificate and recognition from the American Legion for outstanding knowledge and citizenship.

Top students receiving the certificates were: Raelynn Adkins, Alivia Dunlap, Josiah Sprunger,
Nora Kauffman, David Schlunt, Luka Herrera, Deklan Missler, Kinze Burkholder, Lochan Place,
Raelynn Williams, Bexley Riepenhoff, and Caleb Sommers.
