BLUFFTON - The Bluffton golf team won a four-team Northwest Conference match at the Bluffton Golf Course Thursday to tee off its season in style.

The co-host Pirates won with 178 strokes, followed by Columbus Grove (193), Ada (199) and Crestview (232).

Bluffton's Drew Wilson and Zach Roberts of Columbus Grove tied for match medalist honors score with a total of 42.

Kenny Lovett shot a 43 to finish second for the Pirates. Jared Piercefield carded a 45 and Micah Minnig shot 48.

New inclement weather policy now in effect

Preseason practices officially begin this Thursday, Aug. 1, for OHSAA member schools for the fall sports of football, girls and boys golf, girls tennis, girls volleyball, boys and girls soccer, boys and girls cross country and girls field hockey.  

UPDATED OHSAA INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY

The Bluffton High School student senate and Bluffton Athletic Boosters have a Superfan t-shirt for you.

Every student who purchases a 10-game pass for $25 will receive one of these shirts while the supply lasts.

The student passes will be sold following the player-parent meeting at the high school at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, July 29.

A mandatory fall sports player/parent meeting for 7th to 12th grade students and a parent takes place in Bluffton High School at 7 p.m, Monday, July 29. Athletes must have up-to-date physicals before they may start practice on Aug. 1.

Sportsmanship award goes to Bluffton - voted by all coaches

BLUFFTON - The Bluffton swim team finished a strong second out of eight teams at the 39th annual Elks West Ohio Aquatic League championship meet held Friday and Saturday at the Bluffton pool.

Perennial power Westside won the combined team meet with 2,964 points to nose out the hosts, who scored 2,779.5 points.

Westside out-pointed Bluffton 1,421.5 points to 1,357 to win the girls team crown, and also won the boys team standings 1,542.5 points to 1,422.5 over the Sardines.
