Every summer, our library’s goal is to encourage people of all ages to read and continue learning throughout every stage of their lives.  Our theme this summer has an emphasis on supporting a healthy body, mind and spirit, and we’ve titled this theme: “Our Library, Our Community: Healthy Together.”

End of School Movie Event @ BPL!

Join the library for an End-Of-School event on May 27th at 3 p.m. as we screen Star Wars: The Force Awakens (PG-13).

Permission forms are required for patrons under 18 (available at front desk and youth services desk) and children under the age of 8 will need to have a guardian (14+) with them.

This event is open to families and no registration is required.      

ACT: Raising Safe Kids Parenting Workshop

A FREE, fun workshop* for all parents, guardians, and other adults raising children from birth to 8 years old!

Learn about your child's behaviors and how to respond appropriately;
Learn how to prevent your child's difficult behaviors;
Learn how to use positive ways to discipline your child;
Learn how to reduce the impact of media violence on your child's behavior. 

Please note: Due to the nature of this series, we ask that parents/guardians do not bring their children with them to this learning event.

Music with Doug Adams: "Peace, Love, and the Power of Song" @ the Library

Local musician Doug Adams will present “Peace, Love, and the Power of Song” on Monday, May 16 at 6 p.m. on BPL's main floor. Bring a friend and attend this FREE musical event!

Friends of the Library used book sale starts Wednesday

Friends of the Bluffton Public Library hold their spring book sale this week. The sale is Wednesday, May 11, through Saturday, May 14, in the library.

Hours are:
Wednesday: 5-7:30 p.m.
Thursday:  9:30 a.m.- 7:30 p.m.
Friday 13: 9:39 a.m. - 4:30 
Saturday: 9:30 a.m.-1 pm.  

"We have a lot of good books, especially children's books.  Books are priced by donation. Come have free coffee and cookies while you browse. All proceeds support library programs," said Sallie Jones of the Friends.

Library in May: Music, barbecue, book sale, pinch pots, Skype with an author

Here are some May highlights of events planned at the Bluffton Public Library.

Musician Doug Adams will present “Peace, Love, and the Power of Song” on Monday, May 16, at 6 p.m. on BPL's main floor.

Janette Reineke, returns Thursday, May 19, at 6 p.m. for a session on Creating Pinchpots. This program is open to adults only (18+).  Learn more about pinchpots and make your own artwork piece. Registration is required by May 12, and a $10 supply fee will be due upon registration (cash only please, nonrefundable after May 13).
