Softball drops a pair at Transylvania

LEXINGTON, Ky. - The Bluffton University softball team hit the road to face off against the Transylvania Pioneers in their first conference matchup of the year. Transylvania showed why they were the 2017 HCAC champions as they swept the Beavers on Saturday, 13-2 (5) and 9-6.

The Witmarsum rebirth colloquium topic

Marathana Prothro, assistant professor of communication at Bluffton University, will present the Colloquium titled, “From ‘Meh’ to ‘Must Read’: An Insider’s Look at the Rebirth of the ‘The Witmarsum’” at 4 p.m. on Friday, April 13, in Stutzman Lecture Hall.

Prothro is in her third year of teaching at Bluffton and serves as the faculty adviser to “The Witmarsum,” the student-driven media outlet at Bluffton University.

Bluffton University will host concert pianist Yu-Lien The for the 2018 Pearl Bogart Mann Memorial Piano Recital at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 12. 

A highly sought-after chamber musician and pianist with performances throughout the United States, Europe and Southeast-Asia, The will present a solo piano recital showcasing her exquisite musicality and technical brilliance.

Theme of Civic Engagement Forum

“Worthy of Honor” will be Dr. Jonathan Andreas’ topic for Bluffton University’s Civic Engagement Forum on Tuesday, April 10, in Yoder Recital Hall. His 11 a.m. presentation is free and open to the public.

Community invited to Riley Creek Festival

April 14 in Sommer Center

Bluffton University will host the annual Riley Creek Festival from 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, in the Sommer Center.

Free and open to the public, the festival will feature block-party-style events including: family-friendly inflatables, games and other activities. The event will conclude with the traditional rubber duck race on Riley Creek starting at 4 p.m. Rubber ducks will be sold for $1 each, with proceeds to benefit the Bluffton food pantry. Duck race winners will receive prizes donated by local businesses.
