Jerry Snodgrass student-athletics awards forum speaker

Bluffton University will recognize its top student-athletes at the annual Athletics Awards Forum at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 17, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Three awards will be presented. Bluffton’s top senior male athlete will receive the A.C. Burcky Award, while the top senior female athlete will receive the Kathryn E. Little Award.
 

Spring Fling concert April 22

Camerata Singers, University Chorale, Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble

Bluffton University’s Camerata Singers, University Chorale, Concert Band and Jazz Ensemble will perform a selection of lighter tunes during the Spring Fling concert at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, in Yoder Recital Hall. 

Camerata will sing arrangements of familiar songs such as “Sing” from Sesame Street and “Yesterday” by the Beatles. They will be directed by Natalie Mallis. University Chorale will share some choral classics and will be conducted by members of the advanced conducting class. 

George Lehman April 20 colloquium speaker

Dr. George Lehman, Howard Raid professor of business, will discuss “Cuba, Paraguay, China, Berne, Etc.: A Brief Tour through the Raid Chair lectures” at Friday Colloquium on April 20.  

The presentation is free and open to the public beginning at 4 p.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall. Lehman will discuss how the expectations of “a good leader” vary greatly from region to region and country to country.

Alumnus shares ethical reasoning strategy to revive democracy

Former Bluffton University academic dean

As chair of the Madison Collaborative at James Madison University, Dr. William Hawk, a 1972 Bluffton graduate and native of Lima, Ohio, is heading up a major effort to revive democracy on the Harrisonburg, Va., campus and beyond. The project, with the goal of putting ethical reasoning into action, is structured around Eight Key Questions (8KQ) developed at JMU for evaluating the ethical dimensions of a situation before making a decision.

Softball collects first HCAC win at Defiance

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University softball squad hit the road up north to face off against rival Defiance College in their second set of conference games this season. After a thrilling 4-3 extra-inning win in the first game, a 6-2 loss in game two put the Beavers at 6-15 overall and 1-3 in HCAC play.
