Top scholarships awarded at Bluffton University

Two incoming students at Bluffton University have been awarded the university’s full-tuition Presidential Scholarship, valued at more than $105,000 for four years, while two others have received a Dean’s Scholarship, worth more than $80,000 over the same period.

Daniel Piero of Medina, Ohio, and Aaron Johnson of Goshen, Ind., are the Presidential Scholarship recipients.

Bryan Burkholder graduates from Ohio Northern University

Bryan L. Burkholder, son of Dwaine and Cheryl Burkholder, 407 Ethan Circle, Bluffton, recently graduated from the College of Engineering at Ohio Northern University.  He received the Bachelor of Science in computer engineering.

On campus, Burkholder was active in the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.

And we thought "edible books" were only for book worms

Here's an interesting note from the Bluffton Public Library website:

Bluffton Public Library and Bluffton University Musselman Library are partnering to promote reading and creativity by hosting an Edible Books Contest on July 25.  Finale activites will also include demos for adults and kids activities.  Community Markets is our main event sponsor.

Check out www.pinterest.com/bpl45817 for ideas and inspiration.  Edible entries may be as simple or as elaborate as one wishes. 

Hilty Home plans chicken dinner fundraiser

Hilty Home is having a Father's Day chicken dinner fundraising event on Sunday, June 16, from 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Ted's Market. 

Tickets are $7.50 ea.  Tickets are available at Hilty Home, Ted's Market and Riley Creek Pharmacy.

Bluffton garden tour offered for retirees

Registration remains open for a tour of six area gardens sponsored by Bluffton University’s Institute for Learning in Retirement.

Leaving from the Sommer Center parking lot at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 18, the tour will begin in Bluffton and include stops in Pandora and Fort Jennings, where a short, guided tour of the Fort Jennings Memorial Museum will also be offered. Cost is $35, including lunch; payment is due at the time of registration.
