Want a light show in your yard this holiday season? If so, help is on the way!
It's the first week of spring, but let's think about Christmas for a moment.
You've watched the Gift of Giving light show extravaganza set up across from Harmon Field for the past two holiday seasons. Ropp Triplett, the mastermind behind the project, thinks there could be several more of those light shows, but on smaller scales, scattered around Bluffton for the 2010 holiday season.
He's so serious about the idea that he's even willing to help people who might be interested in creating their own light shows. As he points it: "Bluffton could be the electronic light show capital of the world at Christmas time."
We talked with Triplett about the idea earlier this week. Here's what he had to say about it:
"I'm looking for someone, or several people who are handy with tools. These are residents with ideas, creativity and who are interested in creating a light show in their own yard
"If there are residents interested in doing this, I can help provide the equipment. While the display is up to the individual, there are people in Bluffton willing to help make it happen.
"The result is that there could be several active displays in yards around Bluffton this coming holiday season. Such an addition would greatly enhance the Blaze of Lights and, just imagine if there were a half dozen or so additional displays in Bluffton.
Triplett said that is he available to talk with anyone wanting information on what is needed to put a light show together. "I'll outline what it entails. It's still your own idea and your display," he said. "After I get an idea about what someone would like to do, that will determine the type of equipment needed for the display."
Triplett said that he is also able to help persons interested in having sound in their display. This would take place by creating an FM radio signal, similar to displays on Sunset Drive and at the Gift of Giving.
"Timing is important," said Triplett. "It's not too soon to start thinking about putting together a light show now in time for this year's holiday season."Persons interested in more information or with questions may contact Triplett at 419-358-6801.
