Red Cross assisting family who lost house in Williamstown fire
The American Red Cross Hancock County Chapter is helping a family of four who lost their home to a fire March 7.
Volunteer members of the Red Cross Disaster Action Team responded to the scene south of Arlington to assist the mother and three children who lived in the home.
The Red Cross is providing emergency shelter for the family and assistance for food, clothing and other immediate needs, comfort kits with personal hygiene items and stuffed animals for the children.
Red Cross caseworkers will continue aiding the family, providing further assistance as needed and referrals and resources for long term recovery.
Executive Director Todd James also reports the Red Cross is continuing to assist families from the Argyle Apartments in downtown Findlay, which burned two weeks ago.
"We are still helping some of the residents with direct assistance and we are working with our partner agencies of the Hancock County Disaster Relief and Recovery Collaborative on providing long term recovery planning and assistance" says James.
All Red Cross disaster relief is provided free of charge, thanks to the generosity of the American people. If you'd like to make a donation to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund, visit www.hancockredcross.org, text "REDCROSS" to 90999 or call (419) 422-9322.
