Famed St. John's UCC Players present "who done it?"; SHANNON Club provides Italian dinner - March 18
The famed St. John's Players will present the suspenseful drama "Pasta, Passion and Pistols," at 4 p.m., Sunday, March 18, in Oppermann Hall at the St. John's United Church of Christ.
Members of the SHANNON Service Club will serve an Italian dinner. A free-will offering will be taken. Persons interested in tickets or reservations may contact the church office at 419-358-5641. Reservations are helpful so the chefs know how many meals to prepare.
The murderer of Italian restaurant owner Pepi Roni (no pun intended) will be discovered as you, the detective, sifts through the clues and uncover the dastardly deed.
It all takes place at Scarfazzi Restaurant (aka Oppermann Hall, St. John's United Church of Christ), on the 18th.
The Icon theater critic provides the following storyline of the drama:
Apparently many years ago, Pepi and his brother, Rocco Scarfazzi, ran a successful winery in Italy. Over a misunderstanding between the two, Pepi and his wife, Rosa, moved to New York and opened a very successful restaurant.
Brother Rocco comes for a visit and, the next day, Pepi is found dead in his very own restaurant.
Could it be Angel Roni (Pam Everett) - Pepi and Rosa's aggressive daughter and girlfriend of Bo Jalais; or could it be Bo Jalais himself (Blaine Bauman), the French sweet-talking manager of Rocco's vineyards?
Then too, Clair Voyant (Carol Groman), the flamboyant astrology advisor to Mama Rosa, cannot be counted out. And, Father Al Fredo (Don Rock), the Italian priest and long-time family friend of both families has some dark secrets of his own.
And there is Mama Rosa (Shirley Rock), the poor widow. Who would know that she was unhappy in her roll as Pepi's wife? Marco Roni (David Herr) is the sensitive waiter son of Pepi and Rosa. His father insists he give up his childish dream to become a famous soccer star and continue instead to work at the restaurant.
Pepi's identical twin brother Rocco (Duane Bollenbacher) is rumored to be in the laundering business in addition to running his vineyards.
Last, but certainly not least to be considered is Tara Misu (Nancy Yeager), Rocco's young vivacious fianc'ee, who moved from maid to manager of the Scarfazzi Villa.
Who done it? We guess there's only one way to find out: attend the performance and learn the answer for yourself.
