Ohio Northern University’s Freed Center for the Performing Arts will present  “Zombie Prom” on Oct. 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. and two matinee performances on Oct. 26-27 at 2 p.m.

This ghoul rock and roll musical is set in the atomic 1950s at Enrico Fermi High, where the law is laid down by a zany, tyrannical principal. Pretty senior Toffee has fallen for the class bad boy Jonny. Family pressure forces her to end the romance, and Jonny charges off on his motorcycle to the nuclear waste dump to commit suicide. He returns glowing and determined to reclaim Toffee's heart. He still wants to graduate, but most of all he wants to take Toffee to the prom. The principal orders him to drop dead while a scandal reporter seizes on him as the freak du jour. History comes to his rescue while a tuneful selection of original songs in the style of 1950s hits keeps the action rocking across the stage.

Thomas Ridgley, a drama desk-nominated director, educator and co-founder of Waterwell, is the director for the production Michael Jordan, ONU staff accompanist, is serving as the musical director and Brenda Hoyt-Brackman, adjunct faculty member at ONU for the Department of Theatre Arts, is the choreographer.

The cast includes Kayla Burress (Delilah Strict), a junior musical theatre arts major from Cincinnati, Ohio; Madeline Chitty (Toffee), a sophomore musical theatre major from Charleston, S.C.; Kathleen Weston (Candy), a senior theatre arts major from, Gross Pointe, Mich.; Kelsey Barrett (Coco), a sophomore musical theatre arts major from Wapakoneta, Ohio; Hayley Reynolds (Ginger), a senior theatre arts and communications double major from Sylvania, Ohio; Patrick Plucinsky (Jonny Warner), a freshman musical theatre arts major from Soto, Ohio; Tyler Matanick (Joey), a sophomore theatre arts major from Maumee, Ohio; Brady Miller (Josh), a junior musical theatre arts and public relations double major from Findlay, Ohio; Garrett Hill (Jake) a sophomore musical theatre arts major from Ridgeway, Ohio; and Tim Swaim (Eddie Flagrante), a sophomore theatre arts major from Oregon, Ohio

Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for seniors and $5 for children. Tickets are $5 for ONU faculty and staff and $5 for ONU students.
