Pandora author Steve Davis has book signing and reading Thursday at the library
Pandora author Steve Davis will have a book reading and signing from 5:30 to 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, at the Bluffton Public Library.
Davis co-authored “Myles Traveled: Stories of My American Journey.” He co-authored the book with Bill Myles. At 6:30 p.m. Davis will read from the book, provide a presentation and answer questions from the audience.
The program takes place in the library main floor. It is open to the public and the library asks that persons attending RSVP.
“Myles Traveled” chronicles the journey of widely-revered Ohio State University assistant football coach Bill Myles, from his birth in Kansas City to the pinnacle of college football – coaching the Buckeyes in the Horseshoe under Woody Hayes and Earle Bruce.
The memoir of this grandson of a slave, who was born in segregated times and started in a two-room school, is set in Kansas City, Mo., Lincoln, Neb., and Columbus, Ohio.
An absorbing personal narrative of sports history, the book is rich with Myle’s humor, wisdom, and life lessons. The book comes alive through Myles storytelling, his insider’s view of Ohio State, and his humorous Buckeye anecdotes. Archie Griffin writes in the Foreword, “Nobody knows how to tell ‘Woody Stories’ like Bill Myles.”
Although a must-read for Buckeye Fans, “Myles Traveled” is appealing to others from all walks of life and all ages.
More than a sports story, it is also a message of faith, family, love and hope. OSU All- American Jim Lachey said, “If you embrace Bill’s attitude as a result of reading ‘Myles Traveled,’ no matter what you do, you will have a chance to be successful.”
Co-author Davis has had a 41-year career in resource management with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service, where he honed his writing and speaking skills.
In 1992, The Ohio Forestry Association named him its Outstanding Individual in Public Service. He has authored and co-authored scientific publications, but “Myles Traveled” is his first book.
