The Bluffton Lions Foundation will host the 6th annual Ride to Remember in a virtual format this summer.

The public ride that was scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 11, will now be a ride that riders will complete on their own anytime from now until the end of July.

Maps with routes will be provided, but riders may also complete routes in their own communities, or through spinning indoors. The registration fee for the virtual ride will be a donation to the Bluffton Pathways Project, which will be collected during the online registration process.

“This year we want to encourage all riders to continue to exercise, while maintaining social distancing. There will be no mass start or rest stops, but the Bluffton Pathways Project will benefit from riders’ donations,” said Ron Headings, chair of the event. 

Route options 
Route options will range in distance from the 10-mile Fun Loop to the 64-mile Main Loop with cut-offs at 23, 46 and 56 miles. 

Riders are encouraged to take photos and use the hashtag #BRTR2020 on social media during or at the end of the ride.  Photos can be shared on the Bluffton Ride to Remember on Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RidetoRememberBlufftonOH and/or tag @RidetoRememberBlufftonOH.

Routes are on scenic, flat, paved roads and feature points of interest such as the Bluffton University Nature Preserve and the villages of Rockport, Pandora, Gilboa, Benton Ridge and Rawson as well the city of Ottawa.

Upon completion, riders will be mailed a t-shirt, compliments of the Bluffton Ride to Remember sponsors, and a certificate. 

Event supports Bluffton pathway program
Thanks, in part, to proceeds from the five previous rides, the Bluffton Lions Way Pedestrian and Bike Pathway Project has over 4 of 10 planned paved miles, already open. 

These paths provide safe access to the Bluffton University Nature Preserve, Riverbend, Parkview, Riley Creek subdivisions, Magnolia Lane Condominiums, Maple Crest Senior Living Village, Buckeye Lake, Village Parks and restaurants and businesses on State Route 103. In all, Bluffton offers more than 9 miles of paved, crushed aggregate, mulched and natural trails.
