Your waiting is over, Greenhorn opens on Thursday
Bluffton has a new answer to the question: “Where shall we eat today?”
Greenhorn, 112 Vine St., officially opens Thursday, according to Jonah Agner, restaurant owner with Bob Bell of Findlay. Agner with Nancy Corle-Agner own The Food Store on Main Street.
“Our dishes have a strong Mediterranean influence,” said Agner. “We’ll also carry seasonal vegetables. The menu is 99% vegan with limited use of dairy products.”
Several area growers will supply fresh produce to the restaurant.
Among those are:
• Patchwork Gardens, Dayton, operated by former Bluffton resident Laura Krugh and George Metz
• Bucksnort Farm, operated by Ray Person and Elizabeth Kelly
• Little Riley Creek Farm, operated by Amanda Wischmeyer and Jon Tuttle
• Seasonal Sun Farm, operated by Ben and Daisy Sutkay and Mark and Julie Bankert
• Seminary Hill Farm, Delaware, Ohio
Michael Bulkowski, owner of the Revolver, a restaurant that operated for several years in Findlay, is a guest chef as the Greenhorn opens.
Agner said he is the first in a series of chefs that the restaurant has invited to share in expertise and training of employees.
Greenhorn hours are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. serving lunch. Then, from 5 to 9 p.m. it serves dinner.
Reservations are encouraged for dinner and customers’ eating options include takeout, eat outdoors, or inside in a set-up arranged for social distancing. Five tables are indoors and four are outdoors.
Agner said that in addition to food, the restaurant recently obtained a D-5 liquor license, allowing it to sell beer, wine and spirits for meals and wine by the bottle for carryout. Alcohol is not available for outdoor diners.
The restaurant’s staff includes Amanda Hergenrather, Isabella Mancuso and Dennis Ellerbrock in the kitchen. Servers are Katie Scott, Whytni Gallager, Ashley Hartman, Anna Bixel Vast and Nancy Corle-Agner.
