Pirates complete undefeated regular season

KALIDA - The visiting Bluffton boys soccer team defeated Kalida 4-1 in a non-conference match Thursday night to end the regular season.
The Pirates improved to 14-0-2 with the victory. Kalida fell to 4-10-3 with the defeat.
Simon Derstine netted a pair of goals and added one assist to pace the Pirate offense.
Jonathan Schriner scored a goal in the 11th minute. Josh Mehaffie added to the lead with a goal about six minutes later.
Kalida's Drew Fersch tallied the Wildcat goal in the 40th minute.
Schriner and Thad Mittendorf each dished out one assist.
Bluffton fired 11 of its 21 shots on goal.
Both of Kalida's two shots were on goal, with Nic Essinger making one save.
Wildcat keeper Brady Fersch was credited with seven stops.
Bluffton is the top seed in the Div. III Tiffin district pairings. They earned a first round bye and will host the Oct. 21 Woodmore/Old Fort winner on Saturday, Oct. 24.
Elmore was seeded eighth and OF 11th in the 12-team sectional draw.
The district semis and finals will be at Tiffin Columbian on Oct. 28 and Oct. 31, respectively.
