Putnam County shred-a-thon on July 15
The annual Putnam County shred-a-thon is back, and takes place Thursday, July 15, from 9 a.m. to noon.
This free community event located at the Putnam County Council on Aging is in honor of Elder Abuse Awareness. Anyonel living in the community is invited to drive-thru and dispose of any personal documents, check stubs, credit card offers, receipts, or any other paper materials that might contain personal information.
Shredding paper helps to keep us in compliance with the law, to prevent identity theft, and to rid clutter and reduce fire hazards.
There will be a shred truck on-site at the Putnam County Council on Aging (1425 E. Fourth Street, Ottawa) to immediately dispose of any paper waste dropped off.
Local organizations who have donated time, resources, volunteers, and funds to make this community service possible include the Putnam County Council on Aging, Hilty Home, Putnam County Job and Family Services, the Area Agency on Aging 3, Crime Victim Services, and the Ottawa Police Department.
As this is a free service to the citizens of the community, the group is unable to accommodate shredding for business or commercial use.
