Bowlus, Downey, Verb big winners

NORTH ROBINSON__The Bluffton High School boys and girls swim teams each finished a strong second at the North Central Ohio Swim League championship meet on Saturday, January 24.

Meet host Colonel Crawford swept to both the boys and girls team titles. It was the 10th consecutive league crown won by the Eagle girls swim team.

The Eagle boys scored 376 points to capture their fourth NCOSL crown over the last six seasons. Bluffton finished as runner-up with 291 points, while Upper Sandusky came in third at 204.  

Several Pirates won or placed highly in individual event races.

Pirate senior Jackson Bowlus won both the 100 backstroke and 50 freestyle races to lead the Bluffton boys.

Senior Jenna Downey touched first in both the 100 butterfly and 50 free to pace the girls.

Camden Verb won the 500 free in a new NCOSL meet-record time of 5:15.52. He also placed second in the 200 free.

Kari Diller placed second in the 100 backstroke and finished fourth in the 200 free.
Aaron Ungashick won the 200 individual medley and placed third in the 100 breaststroke.

Maddy Sterrett placed fourth in the 200 IM and ended up third in the 100 breaststroke.

Karden Geiser touched fifth in the 100 breaststroke and placed fourth in the 50 free.

Max Fritsch took third in the 200 IM.

The Bluffton relay teams fared well.

The boys 200 medley relay foursome of Jackson Bowlus, Owen Armstrong, Aaron Ungashick and Camden Verb finished first. 

The girls 200 medley relay quartet of Kari Diller, Maddy Sterrett, Jenna Downey and Karden Geiser placed second.

The girls 200 free relay foursome of Kari Diller, Selah Luginbill, Karden Geiser and Jenna Downey touched second.

The boys 200 free relay team of Aiden Stanfield, Bodey Benroth, Aaron Ungashick and Owen Armstrong placed third.

The Pirate boys 400 free relay quartet consisting of Aiden Stanfield, Jackson Bowlus, Max Fritsch and Camden Verb came in second.
