The First Presbyterian Church, Findlay, 32nd Concert Series will feature a performance by Findlay native and organist, Joshua Brodbeck on Sunday, March 4. The concert is scheduled for 3 p.m. in the church's sanctuary, 2330 S. Main St. in Findlay. The concert is free and open to the public; a free-will offering will be received.

Brodbeck began his concert career in Slovenia, Europe, at the age of 12. Since then, he has given many concerts throughout the United States. He has studied at Capital University and The Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University.

His primary teacher has been international concert organist Todd Wilson, and has also participated in master classes with leading concert organists from around the world, including Paul Jacobs of the Juilliard School of Music and Dame Gillian Weir of the United Kingdom.

In 2007, Brodbeck won the Indianapolis American Guild of Organists Young Artist Competition. Also in 2007, he was the recipient of the Keller Award for outstanding performance at Capital University.

In 2008, Mr. Brodbeck won the Perrini award for performance. In 2009, he won the Evansville American Guild of Organists Young Artists Competition and received second place in The American Guild of Organists Young Artist Competition in Detroit.

His performances have been featured on television and public radio. A children's book, The Amazing Pipe Organ, was written about Brodbeck and teaches children about the pipe organ. Brodbeck holds the Colleague Certificate from the American Guild of Organists and is a member of the Royal College of Organists.

Currently, Brodbeck is Minister of Music and Artist-in-Residence at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Upper Arlington, Ohio, where he oversees the music program and concert series. He is also Organist-in-Residence at the Methodist Theological School of Ohio.

Coming performances

The 2011-2012 First Presbyterian Church Concert Series will continue with a performance by the Bluffton University Camerata Singers on Sunday, April 1 and The Cakewalkin' Jass Band on Sunday, May 20.

Both concerts are at 3:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church and are free and open to the public.
