The name will remain, the personal service will continue, but the ownership of Greg’s Pharmacy will change on Jan. 1.

Greg Conkling announced today (Dec. 20) that he will sell his Main Street Bluffton pharmacy to Clark’s Rx, an independent pharmacy with several other southwestern Ohio locations, headquartered in the Dayton area.

New owners are Tim Clark, third generation pharmacist with Clark’s Rx, and Mark BonDurant, also a pharmacist.

“There are a lot of similarities between Greg’s and Clark’s, and that’s important to me,” said Conkling. “There will be a smooth ownership transition and customers won’t really see a change.”

Clark said, “We are thrilled to become a part of the Bluffton community and to be able to build on the outstanding service and customer support Greg’s Pharmacy has consistently offered.” 

He added, “We have always been committed to maintaining the corner drug store, and this transition will help us to continue that mission and provide the compassionate care we’ve been known for since my grandfather opened our first pharmacy more three generations ago.”  

Founded three generations ago, Clark’s Rx Pharmacies operates in nine locations and is Dayton’s only locally owned pharmacy chain. The company began as a corner drug store in 1939. Today it has grown into a business focused on improving the quality of life of its customers and dedicated to providing the same personalized service that was the cornerstone of the company’s reputation nearly 70 years ago.

Greg Conkling has owned Greg’s Pharmacy for 26 years. He purchased Skelly’s Pharmacy from John Skelly in October 1986. It was originally located at 120 N. Main St., now the home of Forever in Stitches quilt shop.

In November 1998 Conkling moved the pharmacy to its present location. The move enabled him to expand from an 1,800-square-foot retail area to 5,700 square feet.

Prior to the move, Harold and Annie Balmer owned the 126 N. Main St. building. Balmer’s had operated a women’s clothing store there until their business was purchased by Uhlman’s, a women’s chain store.
