Richland Manor residents celebrate the 1940s era
In honor of the Memorial Day holiday, the residents of Richland Manor enjoyed a week’s worth of festivities and an evening full patriotism in late May. This “USO Dinner” was planned specially for the campus residents and featured a menu that contained buffet cuisine similar to what one could find in an Army canteen.
The chef-prepared menu included appetizers and assorted entrées served buffet-style.
The week leading up to the dinner featured special programming, activities and trivia that tied in to the USO theme, including: united we stand bingo, heroes trivia, and a patriotic baking class.
“Many of our residents served our country during the 1940s when patriotism and the USO were at their peaks. It was wonderful to be able to reminisce on this time period and thank our residents, as well as all our service men and women,” said Sarah Foster, Executive Director of Richland Manor.
“Our next themed dinner – Under the Big Top - will take place in August, and we can’t wait to provide another memorable experience for our residents.”
“I enjoyed the hotdog and hamburger cookout”, said Michele Cardone, “What a wonderful summer dinner!”
"It was wonderful participating in the USO dinner and thanking my grandpa Chuck Croy for his service in World War II", said Mindy Mauk, Richland Manor MDS nurse.
