Bluffton first grade is a real life-saver
Sydney Goodwin, a Bluffton first grader, has already accomplished something few adults have managed to do.
She helped save someone's life.
Lima Memorial Health System presented Sydney with a Life Saving Award on April 17 to recognize the bravery and courage she displayed during an emergency her grandmother experienced in her presence.
Seven-year-old Sydney sprang into action on Feb. 22, when her grandmother collapsed right before her eyes.
Sydney acted with great heroism when she did not hesitate to call 9-1-1 to get her grandmother the help she needed. This call ultimately saved her grandmother’s life.
Doug LaRue, Lima Memorial EMS manager, presented Sydney with the Life Saving Award at Bluffton elementary school.
LaRue then spoke with Sydney’s classmates to stress the importance of dialing 9-1-1 in emergency situations. Sydney is a student in Ryan Dunlap’s first grade.
