Beaver Fall Classic recap

On September 24, the Bluffton University volleyball team secured two victories on day two of the Beaver Fall Classic against Capital University (3-1) and Olivet College (3-2). The Beavers improved to 12-4 on the season, thanks to seven straight wins, while Capital fell to 6-9 and Olivet dropped to 3-12.
Powering the Beaver offense in the lidlifter was freshman Jenna Woods (DeGraff/Riverside) with 13 kills for a blazing .458 hitting percentage. Chloei Barnett (Wapakoneta) was just one off her pace with 12 winners. Alysha Like (McComb) and Maddie White (Ashland) both tallied nine smacks to the opposition's floor. Julianne Kincaid (Galion/Northmor) and Kaylie Campbell (Camden/Preble Shawnee) hammered home seven kills each in the victory.
Leading the defense was Emma Organ (Lambertville, MI/St. Ursula Academy) with a career-high 34 digs and she also fired two aces. White notched a double-double in match one with 25 assists and 15 pickups. Freshman Gabby Williams (West Liberty/West Liberty-Salem) dished out 14 assists for the good guys. Lindsey Shaw (Findlay/Van Buren) and Courtney Weekley (Butler/Clear Fork) both added to their stat lines with 10 digs apiece.
With the victory in match one of the day, Head Coach Steve Yarnell claimed his 300 victory as a Beaver.
Campbell and Like were the offensive fire in game two with 15 and 14 kills, respectively. Kincaid knocked down nine winners with Woods just one off her pace (8). White handed out 28 assists in the victory while also tallying 10 digs and four blocks. Williams picked up a double-double with 22 helpers and 12 digs while also firing a career-high five aces for the home team. Weekley and Like were both hot at the service line as well with four and three aces, respectively.
Organ found the defensive leaderboard again with 20 digs. Weekley added 12 pickups to her stat line with Shaw just one off her pace at 11. Campbell and White were hot at the net defensively, knocking down six and four blocks, respectively.
The women return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 28, when they finish up non-conference play at Denison University. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in Granville.
