Letter: May appointed resident preacher for Bluffton Presbyterian
Cole May, newly appointed Resident Preacher of Bluffton Presbyterian Church, will begin a series of sermons titled, “Profiles”, examining some of the great men and women of the Bible. The message at the service Sunday February 16 at 10:15 will focus on Elijah.
Cole is originally from Lima and has most recently lived in Harrod with his wife Janelle and four children, Greyson, Hudson, Emmree and October-Grace. The older children attend Bluffton Schools.
Cole earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Pastoral Ministry at Taylor University and upon graduating took the position of Youth Pastor at First Missionary Church in Fort Wayne. Cole became Associate Pastor at Lima First Missionary Church and went on to become Senior Pastor at Lakeview Missionary Church.
An extended break from ministry followed--a time when Cole would refocus, mature and look forward to the next ministry God would send him to. During this time, he developed a handyman business which grew into a successful custom home building business.
Cole was remodeling the kitchen of a client who knew that Bluffton Presbyterian was looking for a preacher. Cole and Janelle had been praying about their next ministry and this position at BPC fit into their life goals.
One of the verses from the Bible that Cole gives particular attention to in his life is Romans 12:2 “Do not be conformed to the pattern of this world but be transformed by the renewing of your minds.” He believes that the more we dive into scripture and give ourselves to God’s service, the more we will be transformed into the people God wants us to be, the world needs us to be, and that we deserve to be for ourselves.
