Severe thunderstorms to impact western Ohio today
Weather summary for western Ohio: Rounds of severe storms (60-70 m.p.h. gusts, tornadoes 2 p.m.-11 p.m. today possible)
Severe thunderstorms is possible for western Ohio today (Wednesday, May 25) according to AEP.
Information from AEP follows: The storm system that brought the tornado outbreak to Oklahoma yesterday is moving east today. The result will be yet another tornado outbreak - this time over the mid-Mississippi and Lower Ohio Valleys. Severe weather will also impact the AEP East Utilities this afternoon through Thursday night as this strong, slow moving storm continues grinding east.
This afternoon through early tonight...rounds of severe thunderstorms areexpected to move repeatedly across northwest Ohio. Conditions are even favorable for a few tornadoes. A tornado watch is now in effect for much of I&M Power (http://www.spc.noaa.gov/products/watch/).
The threat of wind damage will also increase through the afternoon and evening as temperatures warm and instability increases. Gusts of 60-70 m.p.h. will be possible as short lines of severe thunderstorms cross the region.
Tonight...strong to severe storms will likely spread into central Ohio as an upper-level disturbance traverses the region. While determining the
exact timing and strength of the storms is difficult this far in advance.
