Ada Rotarians get an inside peek at the Icons
On Tuesday Ada Rotary members heard an update on the Bluffton Icon's sister publication, Ada Icon, from Fred Steiner, owner, and Monty Siekerman, editor.
The Ada Icon, now in its fifth year, is a household name in Ada. Since Jan. 1 of this year the Ada Icon has had 74,958 views from 33,481 individual viewers.
There are two Icons: Ada and Bluffton. Each cover the school districts in their viewship.
After Steiner's remarks, Ada Icon Editor Monty Siekerman commented:
* The Ada Icon is like having a daily newspaper in a small community, something that was not possible before.
* The Ada Icon posts 50-70 local stories a week to keep the community well informed.
* it's not expensive to produce color photos online; therefore, many pictures accompany the news stories.
* There is tremendous cooperation among local residents in supplying facts for stories and news tips.
* An advantage to advertisers is the Ada Icon has ability to connect ads to the Facebook pages of merchants, simply click on an ad and go directly to the business' Facebook page to find specials, hours open, etc.
