Medication drop off box procedure will change
Due to misuse, the Bluffton Police Department has closed its medication drop off box in the town hall.
“We have made the unfortunate decision that we are going to have to stop the unattended use of the medication drop off box in the police department lobby,” said Ryan Burkholder, police chief.
He added:
“We have stressed that loose pills only are allowed to be placed into the box and we still have people that choose to not abide by this.
“Every time it is emptied, our officers have to take out needles, liquids, blister packs, bags, and more.
“We want to continue to provide this service to the community so we are working on a monthly drop off day.
“When we have more information on how we are going to move forward with this we will pass it on.”
