The Village of Bluffton Tree Commission will be hosting an Arbor Day tree planting on Saturday afternoon, April 25 at Shannon Cemetery on Jefferson near Vance St.  

The event will begin at 1:00 p.m.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) Division of Wildlife confirmed that 40 white-tailed deer taken during the 2025-26 hunting season tested positive for Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD).
 
A total of 6,617 deer were tested for CWD. Positive CWD samples were detected in Allen, Crawford, Hancock, Hardin, Marion, and Wyandot counties.

MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University recognized faculty scholarship, professional development and institutional contributions during its annual Dean’s Reception, held in Musselman Library on Tuesday, April 21. 

The event, established as a time to celebrate institutional support for faculty development and honor faculty achievements, highlighted research, creative work, promotions and grant recipients across campus.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School softball team held off a late rally to defeat visiting non-Northwest Conference foe Crestview 8-7 on Thursday, April 23.

The Pirates led 5-4 after a seesaw first four innings. The Knight girls tied it with a run in the top of the sixth, but Bluffton answered with three runs in the home half of the sixth to regain the lead at 8-5.

Crestview plated two runs in the seventh, but came up a run short.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School baseball team lost to visiting Northwest Conference rival Crestview 14-0 on Thursday, April 23.

Bluffton fell to 1-5-1 overall and 1-2 in Northwest Conference play with the home loss.

Crestview improved to 2-7 overall and 2-3 in the NWC after the five-inning road win. 

The game was shortened by the 10-run mercy rule after five frames.

The Pirate game with Fort Jennings (4-5) on Wednesday was rained out in the top of the third inning with Bluffton ahead, 5-0.

Bluffton University ceramics students are holding their annual spring pottery sale on Saturday, April 24.

The sale will be held at Sauder Visual Arts Center, S Spring St. near College Ave., from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
