2014 Village of Bluffton general fund tops $3.5 million

The Village of Bluffton will operate with a 2014 general fund budget of $3,525,454. Bluffton’s council approved the budget on Monday. The budget includes excess reserves of $1,192,371, which provides the village with an approximate six-month reserve.

Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer, told council members that village income tax revenue in 2013 was higher than expected. She added that revenues in the water and sewer improvement fund were able to payback approximately $250,000 into the general fund.

“We’ll start 2014 with $70,000 in the water and sewer improvement fund,” she said.

With the change of seasons, Jamie Mehaffie, village administrator, told council that the leaf pick-up program is completed. Residents who still have leaves they wish to dispose of may be dropped off at the North Spring Street brush dump.

Mehaffie told council that Gary Lugibihl has completed the installation of the storm tile on North Dixie Highway. Next spring the area will be reworked to “feather in” the former ditch along that road.
