Bentley Road northbound entrance closed; sandbags available at EMS building

The good news: The rain stopped and the flooding has peaked. The bad is that many residents in low lying areas of Bluffton are pumping basements.

On Sunday morning there was no official number of flooded residents and, while flooding was serious, it did not reach heights of recent floods.

Here are alerts from the Bluffton police department:

6 a.m. Sunday - Closed Streets as of 6 a.m. Sunday:

College Avenue between Triplett and Railroad Street
Cherry Street between Main Street and Railroad Street
Vance Street between Cherry Street and Jefferson Street (SR 103)

Water continues to slowly rise. At the present time we are not able to say whether Main Street and/or Jefferson Street will remain open.

6:39 a.m. Sunday - Main Street, Riley Street, Vance Street, Spring Streets are all closed as of 6:39. Limited sand bags will be available at EMS after 07:30.

7:39 a.m. Sunday - Sand bags are available at the EMS building. North bound I-75 entrance ramp closed at Bentley Road.

10:39 a.m. Sunday - The water is receding, most road remain closed but should be open later this afternoon. Please do not drive into standing water.

Village operations are returning to normal. Please call 911 or 419-358-2961 to report problems.
