Citizens National Bank blows out 100 candles today
One-hundred years ago today – Jan. 31, 1920 – Citizens National Bank opened its doors for the first time in Bluffton.
With $50,000 in capital and approximately four employees, it began a legacy of community banking now extending to 10 offices reaching 11 primary counties in Ohio and employing about 160 people.
Each attendee at the 1920 opening received an apple in appreciation for their business. In honor of that tradition, all CNB offices will have apples available for its customers today.
In celebration of this milestone
Over the next 100 days, the bank will highlight its community involvement through a 100 Days of Caring campaign. The campaign features some of the charitable organizations it works with.
Also during this period, several customers will be highlighted through its social media and advertising. Activities are planned for Community Banking Month in April, including a community shred day on April 24. Birthday cake will be served on April 24.
Citizens National Bank had another strong year in 2019 with a record-breaking net income of $17.6 million and a growth in assets of $24 million.
“With a strong focus on commercial and agricultural banking, our growth is attributed to building long-lasting relationships with our business and farm customers, as well as the retail customers who have trusted us with their personal finances through the years,” said Eric Faulkner, bank president.
“We’re so blessed to have become an integral part of all the communities we serve throughout west central Ohio,” he added. “In 2019, when I was named as only the fifth-ever president of the bank, I was honored to be part of such a legacy of providing financial services and outstanding relationship building to our customers. I look forward to seeing what the next 100 years hold for our growing bank.”
