Rocket boys basketball leads PCL, notches win vs. Ft. Jennings

FT. JENNINGS__The Pandora-Gilboa High School boy’s basketball team remains undefeated in Putnam County League following a February 17 victory vs. Fort Jennings 64-46. With the win, P-G remains alone atop the PCL standings with one game to play.
The Rockets scored first and led throughout. P-G outscored Fort Jennings in each quarter. A 15-4 second quarter advantage put them ahead 36-21 at the halftime break. Fort Jennings did not quit in the second half, cutting the deficit to ten mid-way through the third quarter. P-G came back later in the third to extend the lead to 49-33 heading into the fourth.
A trio of Rockets reached double digits. Senior guard Aiden Harris led all scorers with a game high 24 points, pumping in ten points in the second quarter alone. Nate Maag followed up with 13 points; eleven of his points came in the first quarter. Colin Harris scored throughout and added 11 points. Zach Neuenschwander chipped in 5 points, Aidan Morris hit three free throws for his 3 points and Owen Huffman also finished with 3. Cam Verhoff and Tanner Leichty each hit a fourth quarter bucket for their 2 points apiece.

P-G (19-2, 7-1 BVC, 7-0 PCL) will play their final regular season game this Thursday Feb 22 when they host Continental in a PCL battle. With a win P-G would win the PCL title outright.
The Rockets learned this past weekend they earned a share the BVC title with Arlington and Liberty-Benton; all finished with a 7-1 conference record.
In the OHSAA boys basketball tournament draw, P-G was awarded the #2 seed in the DIV Elida District. P-G will play the winner of Leipsic-Delphos Jefferson for the Sectional Title on Friday, March 1 in Pandora.
