Bluffton schools will continue 4-day-in class, 1-day-remote schedule
Bluffton schools will continue to use the four-day-per-week model with remote learning on Fridays for the final nine weeks of the academic year, according to Greg Denecker, superintendent.
And, the school district intends to start the 2021-2022 school year at five days a week.
These two announcements are in a letter posted on the school website. Click here for the entire letter.
Portions of the letter follow:
Many schools in our area have had to switch back and forth among delivery models because of outbreaks. One of our goals from the start was to be as consistent as possible for our students and families.
We realize the remote Fridays (for the students who are attending school the rest of the week) puts a burden on families.
However, those Fridays have provided the needed time to make sure teachers can meet the needs of not only face-to-face students but also those who are learning remotely – either by choice or due to illness or quarantine.
Because of the success of this structure – and to avoid any additional disruption to learning – we will continue to use the four-day-per-week model with remote learning on Fridays for the final nine weeks of the academic year.
Students currently learning remotely are welcome to return to school in-person for the final nine weeks, beginning March 29. Just notify the appropriate office, if you would like to make that change.
Five days a week in 2021-22
We fully intend to start the 2021-2022 school year at five days a week. At that point, our teachers will not be teaching in both platforms. Instead, we will have a remote option for families who are not yet comfortable with face-to-face instruction.
While we feel our remote learning has been successful, it does not replace the in-person interaction between a teacher and student in the learning process.
Parents, if you have any concerns regarding your child’s education, please contact your child’s teacher.
You can follow your child’s grades on Progressbook, and if you have problems logging in, please check the web site or call the office.
