Several Bluffton council committee meetings and other village-related meetings were announced at the Sept. 6 council session:

• Thursday, Sept. 8 - planning commission, 7 p.m.
• Tuesday, Sept. 13 - State Route 103 corridor study public meeting, 6 p.m.
• Wednesday, Sept. 14 - tree commission, 7:30 p.m.
• Thursday, Sept. 15 - airport advisory commission, 7:45 p.m.
• Monday, Sept. 19 - council meeting, 8 p.m.

Mayor Judy Augsburger set trick-or-treat night in Bluffton for 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 27.

Three Bluffton police officers were recognized for outstanding achievements during the Sept. 6 Bluffton council meeting. Ryan Burkholder, interim police chief, made the following presentations:

• Officer Dominic Francis – life saving award

First National Bank, Pandora, will hold a health care workshop later this month in Findlay.

The program is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 29, at Hilton Garden Inn, 1050 Interstate Dr., Findlay.

The Wilson Sporting Goods football garage sale is from 8 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 24, Liberty Street, Ada.

The sale includes hundreds of footballs, baseball gloves, shoes, clothes, tennis items and additional sporting good items.

DELAWARE, Ohio - Ohio Wesleyan put on a hitting clinic Wednesday evening en route to a sweep of the Bluffton University volleyball team in Branch Rickey Arena. The Beavers slipped to 3-2 on the season while OWU upped its mark to 4-1.

Mornings with Mommy is a fun and easy way for you to enjoy activities with your infant through preschool age children (ages 0-5 years) and meet other moms.

Dads, grandmas, grandpas, and nannies are welcome, too. These educational play-dates will begin on Monday, Sept. 19, and continue on the first and third Monday of each month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera.

Bluffton High School boys' soccer team is ranked second in Division III in the first NWOSSCA coaches poll of the season.

Former Bluffton High School and Eastern Mennonite University All-American Hannah Chappell-Dick has been named one of the top 30 honorees for the 2016 NCAA Woman of the Year Award.

She is the first-ever woman from Eastern Mennonite to be named to the top 30 of the annual NCAA honor.

Now that school is in session, it's a time to remind elementary parents of several important pieces of information involving the new school year.

Here is a summary of that information from the elementary September newsletter. A copy of the newsletter is a printer-friendly attachment.

SCHOOL DAY:  School begins at 8:10 a.m. daily.  Parents should drop off their students in front of the elementary school between 7:55 and 8:10 a.m.  Students that ride buses will be dropped off at the south entrance of the middle school.

Bluffton Public Library hosts an author visit and book signing featuring Kathy Burrus  of rural Columbus Grove, with her new release “Lovely Traces of Hope!”

The event is at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 8, on the main floor of the library at 145 S. Main St., Bluffton. Copies of the book will be available for purchase for $12.99. (Cash only, please.)
